How to play

Uncover every square that has no wolf. A number tells you how many wolves are in the eight squares around it. The first click always opens an area.

  • Mouse: left-click uncovers. Right-click plants a crook on a square you think hides a wolf (again for ?, again to clear it).
  • Chord: on a number that already has that many crooks around it, click it (left, middle, or both buttons) to uncover the rest of its neighbours.
  • Keyboard: arrow keys move, Space uncovers (or chords a number), F plants a crook, F2 or N starts over, M sound.
  • Phone: tap uncovers, touch and hold plants a crook, or switch the button to Crook. Pinch or use − / + to zoom; big boards scroll inside their frame.
  • Hints show one safe square. They're counted: leaderboards have a Clean board (no hints) and an All games board that shows how many each time used.
  • The clock starts with your first click and only runs while the game is open. Every move is saved, so you can close the page and come back; a game you left and came back to counts in your stats, but not on the leaderboard.
