Minesweeper

With wolves

The Windows classic, in the flock's colours. Uncover every square that isn't hiding a wolf. Each number says how many wolves are in the eight squares around it. Plant a shepherd's crook where you think one is lurking.

How it's built

The board lives on the server. Your browser only knows the squares you've uncovered; each click is a small request, and the answer is just the squares that changed. So nobody can read the wolves out of the page, and every move is saved as it happens, which is what lets you close the tab and pick the game up later on another device. The clock is the server's too, and it stops when you leave.

The same solver does four jobs. It checks no-guess boards (and the Daily) can be cleared by logic alone, it works out hints, it spots a lucky last-square guess for the Coin Flip badge, and it's WolfSweeper's brain: certain moves first, then exact odds for every covered square by counting every way the wolves could be arranged.
